Nintendo is Making a Movie

At Comic-con on the 6th of October, 2022, Nintendo is going to reveal a trailer for their new Mario movie that they are creating with Illumination, the creator of the Minions. This will star Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong and Jack Black as bowser among others. The movie is said to have a release date of April 2023 after being postponed from December 2022.

The Nintendo event which will release more information about the movie such as a new trailer will take place on the Empire State Building at 1:00pm PT. So far, we have only been given the teaser poster as you can see above. It depicts Mario, in his usual outfit, looking up at Princess Peach's castle. He seems to be in a vast toad village, surrownded by his delightful, mini companions.

In terms of the plot, we will likely be faced with a similar scenerio that is used in Mario videogames. This includes Bowser's capture of Princess Peach which will be followed by Mario's quest to save her. Although this time, Mario's enemies in the videogames such as Donkey Kong might end up being companions in the movie that will support him along the way.

In my opinion, Nintendo's choice to work with Illumination is a really smart move as their movies are usually big hits. Also, the choice to work with writer, Matthew Fogel and co-directors, Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath will most likely make this movie phenomenal. As Mario says "Oh yeah! Mario time!".
